I’m almost done with Chelsea area right now so I’m moving to another favorite neighborhood: West Village! I know there are amazing little cafes and restaurants so I will be adding their pictures here soon. Also, I changed the blog’s format, and as you can see at the top, the neighborhood names replaced the avenue and street names.

So, when I went there last week during daytime, they didn’t let me take pictures, but last night I was there for dinner and took some pictures! The place is amazing and huge, and have different rooms with different styles. Food was delicious, definitely get the shrimp/chicken rolls and the duck. The desert menu also has some good items, try one! The photos are not perfectly clear because the place was pretty dark and I didn’t want to/I don’t like to use flash.

Aldea – a lovely, hidden restaurant on 17th street between 5th and 6th avenues.
BLT - a seafood restaurant.
The Simple Kitchen – they’re all about organic foods and beverages.
Pierre Loti - Turkish food!!!
Buddakan – such an interesting place with a well designed interior…

Breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien

My favorite place for breakfast. I used to go there in Istanbul too, so I go there with knowing how good that place is. If you decide to go there for breakfast, they have delicious cheese and prosciutto platters; try them with baguette breads. Their Belgian sugar waffles are very tasty too, and the cappuccino comes in a bowl – how amazing is that ? Definitely prefer the long table, it’s nice to sit with other people around a big table, feels like a family dinner. And if you’re doing homework at the same time on your computer like I usually do, that table lets you eat and work so much easier.

There are a lot of other cool places around the west side – I know. But be patient, I will be adding new restaurants very soon…! Oh by the way, I’m not going to be in the city this weekend – so… not that soon .

Chelsea

So, I uploaded more than 100 images of the places and they’re mainly from the Chelsea neighborhood, because my initial plan for my school project was to just focus on the Chelsea area. However I will start adding places that are from the other parts of the city. If you have any suggestions, just let me know!

My first plan was publishing the pictures of the places on flickr only, because my project was all about photos and I thought flickr should be the best platform to use. However I realized that I wanted more; I wanted to write my experiences at these restaurants not as a comment but as a blog post. That’s why I decided to create this blog, and I hope this blog will be useful. However flickr has an amazing part, it has a map, and you can mark the map with your pictures so that people can see the location of your pictures. This feature was perfect for me because I’m doing a guide and a map is probably the most neccessary item for a guide. I will definitiley post here a link of that map soon.
